AiM systems acquire data from the ECU of your vehicle.
The list of available ECU drivers, constantly updated and upgraded, is published here: it includes > 1,000 different ECUs, either Stock and Racing.
They are sorted by manufacturer/vehicle model: for each ECU you find the proprietary communication protocols, including the standard OBDII ones.
From a hardware point of view, AiM systems manage the following data lines:
AiM systems analog inputs are recorded up to 1000 times per second each. You can connect and monitor all kinds of sensors, like:
... and many others, all your custom sensors included.
AiM systems also feature digital inputs:
An innovative AiM systems feature is its CAN2 line, managing data coming from your additional modules (i.e. ABS, traction control, infrared temperature sensors and more...).
This feature meets the requirements of a growing number of racers, as the use of additional modules is becoming quite common in a number of series.
The internal three-axial accelerometer and the gyroscope provide the AiM systems a very powerful array of information.
These force and motion sensors enable you to quantify the dynamic characteristics of your vehicle.
Measuring acceleration forces and gyro rates can assist in determining how to improve your vehicle performances.
With AiM systems you immediately get Math Channels values: the dash logger can be configured to display those values (i.e. brake bias, calculated gear) in real time.

Using the built-in CAN bus, you can add expansion modules to the MXL2 to increment the performance and the data acquired

Thanks to GPS08 Module (included in the kit) and its Race Studio 3 software, you can immediately get laptimes and all data needed for engine tuning as well as for improving driving technique.

It permits to add 4 0-5Volt analog channels for pressure, temperature sensors and potentiometers. Two of these channels can be configured to receive digital inputs like wheel speed.

It adds 4 K thermocouples.

Lambda controller LCU-One, with Bosch LSU 4.9 probe, providing all Air/Fuel data, lambda value and exhaust gas temperature, allows to perfectly tune the carburetion.

The on-board cameras that overlays on videos the data sampled by your logger.
Firmware under development:
Memory Module

Thanks to the SD Card, Memory Module can record all your data in a file that can be downloaded on your PC for post-analysis. Memory Module, with 16Gb capability, can be connected via CAN-Bus to MXL2 and to all AiM loggers.
